Land exchange offer rejected Small landowners in Icod de los Vinos and Garachico have rejected an offer from the government to exchange farm land in neighbouring parts for the land needed to build the new motorway extension.

The island's Cabildo said it was disappointed by the collective refusal and stresed the exchange was an attractive proposal. However, although saddened that small-scale farming would die out as a result, it understood that the owners preferred to obtain money for their properties.
